What Helps?
Throughout the year, Protect Global Children learns of some of the highest priority needs which may vary seasonally.
Winter requests likely include snow boots, long underwear, coats and cold-weather sleeping bags.
Summer requests may focus on year-round needs like wax candles, breast pump, CPAP machines & accessories, and batteries. Please see our donations page for more information!

Trench Candles
Trench Candles are an ingenious method to create a survival tool simultaneously providing light, radiating heat, and acting as a small stove for heating water or food.
Various scraps of WAX, from birthday candles to large pillars, are melted and combined with thick wavy corrugated cardboard called the flute which act as hundreds of tiny chimneys, drawing up the wax to create a powerful, wind-resistant flame. It also while provides structural support so the candle can burn more intensely and resist wind better than a typical wick candle. Containers are usually made of small tin cans, which are portable and can burn for 2-6 hours.
This creates a self-sustaining cycle with cardboard as a large-scale fuel delivery system, producing enough heat for cooking and warmth in a compact, portable form.
