About Us

An action-based organization

In response to desperate humanitarian needs, Protect Global Children collects gently items in response requested in areas we serve. The collections are for specific items of gently used clothing and surplus medical supplies donated from local communities “closet cleanout” efforts.

Protect Global Children then ships donations directly to areas in the world that have severe humanitarian needs, as well as have a reliable logistics system and high-integrity distribution for the needy.

Our most significant focus is Ukraine where we have grown to 4 distribution sites in our first 2 years of operation! The good news is we are helping. The sad news is our help still desperately needed.

One of the most exciting parts of our work is that we receive pictures of children (& adults) using what we send. In the last 2 years, our all-volunteer organization has collected and shipped almost 40,000 lbs.

How Did We Start?

When the Russian invasion to Ukraine happened in 2022 and our Founder learned schools, hospitals and maternity wards were being bombed she knew she had to help. Although she doesn’t have Ukrainian heritage, the attack on children infuriated her into helping. “Not on my watch!” she said.

She conducted a coat drive and was joyfully overwhelmed by hundreds of coats that appeared on her front porch.  A new friend born and raised in Ukraine worked nearby and has childhood friends in Ukraine.  One was a perfect fit to receive and immediately distribute these coats; she helped run an art program for children in Ukraine and had direct access to children and families.

Dr. BonnieJean quickly learned she was in a unique position to connect the donated gently used items to those who were in desperate circumstances and could not help themselves. She would say she unexpected founded Protect Global Children, a 501(c)3 charity. It was not a plan. It was a response to an urgent and lifesaving need to help when parents have such limited ability to protect their children.

About Our Founder

Award-winning corporate consultant

Dr. BonnieJean Butler is an award-winning corporate consultant specializing in meeting tight deadlines with small teams. Her vocation to provide security to needy populations has been proven again and again as she served as Board of Directors as Vice President, Habitat for Humanity Greater Nashua, on the Board of Directors as Vice President for Orphan Baby, and founded Radiant Baby a program providing baby showers in a basket for pregnant women homeless, or on the verge as well as for sex trafficked pregnant women, which is a shocking term, even for her. She knew she needed to help.

In 2010 – 11, she demonstrated tremendous Soldiers Advocacy for Deployed Soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan and personally sent 3000 lbs of care packages there to soldiers who had no support from home. She didn’t know them but heard they were struggling and immediately jumped into action. This effort earned her hundreds of unexpected and moving thank you notes, Multiple Certifications of Appreciation from Combat Support Hospital and Armored Regiment Combat Teams, a Soldiers Angels Award, and an American Flag flown over Afghanistan her honor and shipped to her. She also worked on the Pentagon Restoration Plan immediately after 9/11.

Additionally, Dr. Butler was a hands-on advocate for Angels of East Africa, working with Sam Childers in 2018 – 2019 who was the first American to receive the Mother Theresa Award for Social Justice.

In 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine she was disgusted watching schools and hospitals intentionally targeted by missiles on the news. True to form, she was spurred into action. She researched and hired Ukraine shipping and delivery which has been consistently reliable with tracking throughout the entire Russian invasion. She build relationships with a npo in Ukraine supporting families and a contact spear-heading collections and distributions for Defenders similar to the resistance in WW2. She created an online inventory to Ukraine recipients in advance of receiving humanitarian supplies for distribution planning, and receives pictures of women, children and men with donations. In the last 16 months from Sept 2022 – January 2024, she personally shipped 11 TONS directly to Ukraine, and founded Protect Global Children as a nonprofit.

She was honored to speak with HURI (Harvard Ukraine Research Institute), the leading center in the US for interdisciplinary research on Ukraine which led to being featured on the cover of Stroll Magazine.

She recently received two awards from Ukraine for these Humanitarian efforts and knows there is so much more work to do and the needs are desperate.

Dr. Butler will be the first one to tell you it’s all about letting people know someone cares, and may no child feel unloved.
